Water transfer printing is the application of an ink pattern onto a complex three dimensional object. This process works on most solid materials that can be momentarily immersed in water. This process is used to make one type of substrate look like another (i.e. plastic to look like wood), to apply complex patterns such as camouflage, and to help a product stand out from its competitors by adding visual value that increases competitive advantage.
The advantage of water transfer printing is that the cost effective application of a complex design can be applied to almost any product. The process not only adds visual value but also product protection against environment elements such as heat, UV, abrasion and chemical resistance.
